coLAB makes some of the datasets and applications produced by its researchers available freely or upon prior request and inter-institutional agreements, for reuse and verification by other researchers and by civil society. The repositories contain anonymized data and must be cited according to the instructions provided by the laboratory.
coLAB essentially uses three different platforms to store data, each corresponding to a type of product. For scripts and code used in the research process, a set of public GitHub repositories gathers different applications and materials used by researchers associated with the group and allows procedures to be replicated. As for the final products of the investigations — books, articles, book chapters, and other documents produced by researchers associated with the group — a free repository on Figshare is used. Finally, for raw data, image datasets, text corpora and the like, coLAB stores some of its databases in its own data lake, hosted on a CKAN instance.
The data are made openly available to any interested person; however, not all materials are openly available. The repositories may host:
Other datasets and materials that may contain private data or potentially violate the rights of third parties or related rights are not included in the public repositories for ethical and security reasons.

All data presented in our GitHub repositories are provided “AS-IS”. There are no warranties, express or implied, of fitness for a particular purpose, and no support is offered by coLAB researchers.
All data must be referenced as provided by the Research Laboratory for Communication, Political Cultures and Economies of Collaboration (coLAB), following the instructions in each repository. If there is no specific mention of the citation format, in all derivative works, including graphs, tables or other materials, attribution must be made as follows:

Portuguese version: Fonte: Laboratório de Pesquisa em Comunicação, Culturas Políticas e Economia da Colaboração (coLAB).
All derivative works that use data from this repository must be equally licensed under the CC BY-NC-SA license.
Commercial or private use of the data is not permitted. For such use, please contact those responsible to request prior authorization. As a rule, private and commercial use, including the partial or full publication of the materials available in this repository without prior authorization, in scientific journals, term papers of any kind, textbooks or commercial books, audiovisual works or any other work not under the same license adopted for the data available in this repository, constitutes a violation of these guidelines and consequently subjects offenders to possible civil, criminal or administrative sanctions.
In cases not covered here, prior consultation with those responsible is recommended, through the Contact form available on this website or by e-mail at [email protected], for general guidance on the use of the data.
The Research Laboratory for Communication, Political Cultures and Economies of Collaboration (coLAB) reserves the right not to meet individual requests for data, with the exception of institutional partners or clients of specific consulting services. It is possible to request national or international scientific cooperation partnerships by signing an inter-institutional cooperation agreement. In the case of contracted consulting, the rules for transfer and use of data will follow specific protocols designed between the parties. No data beyond those made publicly available in coLAB’s repositories will be provided without a previously established cooperation agreement or service agreement.
