A collection edited by Viktor Chagas on research agendas and challenges surrounding memes in Brazil.
There are those who ignore, those who neglect, those who disdain, or who simply turn up their noses at the relevant role memes play today not only in our digital culture, but in the very constitution of a democratic environment, since this language has expanded and integrated into our daily lives to such an extent that it has become, in several of the recent episodes we have followed, part of our most basic experience in the public sphere. In this sequel to “A Cultura dos Memes” (Meme Culture), editor and researcher Viktor Chagas brings together 15 texts by 30 researchers committed to deciphering, analyzing and documenting the configurations and implications of the use of memes in Brazilian politics and in contemporary society.
