BOOK SYNOPSIS Brazil was the stage for changes and transformations in 2016. Hosting the Olympic Games was the fulfillment of a dream with complex consequences for many Brazilians. In seeking to chronicle the process that took place in the country — especially in the host city of the Olympics and Paralympics, Rio de Janeiro — the Casa de Rui Barbosa Foundation developed the project “Preserving the Memory of the Olympics: Processes and Actions”, whose objectives are the preservation and production of a documentary collection, recording and producing information and analyses about the events. As a result of this project, this first volume brings reflections by researchers Alexandre Barbalho, Bernardo Buarque, Carla Siqueira, Diana Bogado, Fabio Peres, Gilmar Mascarenhas, Gizele Martins, Jimmy Medeiros, João Manuel Santos, Luigi Bisso, Mario Chagas, Sandra Maria, Victor Melo, Viktor Chagas and Vivian Fonseca.
